Frank Hawkins, Jr.
Frank Hawkins Jr. is in his nineth year as an
Athletic Administrator and his fourth year at Donegal School District.
He is the Director of Athletics and
Extracurricular Activities and oversees a 22-sports, 32-level athletic programs
and 35-Co-curricular/Club Activities.
Under Hawkins, Donegal has launched its
partnerships with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to educate, train
student-athletes and coaches in the areas of leadership, sportsmanship and respect. He has also formed the first Student Athlete Leadership Program for the Indians. The district has also established 6-new sport offerings; Competition Spirit,
Golf, Bowling, Girls Wrestling, Junior High Track & Field and Girl's Volleyball. The department
also launched a new dedicated website and App in October 2022.
The York County native has more than 20
years of experience in education in both the high school and middle school
settings, serving in varying roles ranging from coach, advisor, mentor and
athletic director.
Hawkins came to Donegal School District from West
York Area School District where he was the Director of Athletics for the Bulldogs.
He was the Junior High Boys Basketball coach for 4
years before becoming the Director of Athletics in 2015. He also served as a basketball
official for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) from
2010 - 2017.
Hawkins, graduated from the University of
Phoenix in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Business. Prior to graduation, he
spent 4 years serving in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman. He
was stationed at the Norfolk Operations Base (NOB), Norfolk, VA upon the U.S.S.
Saipan, LHA-2 Amphibious Assault. He also played semi-pro football, as a wide receiver
for 12-years for various teams: Hampton Sharks (VA), Lancaster Lightening (PA),
York City Tigers (PA) and York Silver Bullets (PA).
Hawkins is a graduate of Red Lion Christian School,
lettering in basketball. He enjoys spending time with his family, listening to
music, exercising, and traveling. He and his wife, Tina, live in York. He has
three children: Cassandra ‘28, Anthony ‘25, and Angelique ‘24.
